Winning the Battle

By Angela M. Thomas

There are times when we may feel like our backs are against the wall with no way out. The thought of having to fight the giants of life in order to move forward can be extremely intimidating. We can either choose to stand and fight or run and hide, the choice is ours to make.

I believe it truly helps us when we can face our fears and allow ourselves to open to others and seek help. It’s healing for us, when we can reach that place and speak about our experiences of being injured by significant others, the losses we have sustained, and the things we have done to make matters worse for ourselves in trying to protect or conceal and hide things in fear of embarrassment of being labeled as a failure or some sort. I admit that this can be difficult to do at first by making yourself vulnerable to others by reaching out to connect with others and God to become a step closer and committed to become healed and no longer living in fear, pain or being alone. Allow yourself to seek, what’s needed to find a cure and healing from your emotional pain. We are surrounded by those that can assist us in recovering from our addictions and hidden pain. The best you may be able to do is reach out to a professional in that field of expertise, a pastor, group, counselor, or a family member who can give you some relational structure and tell them, “I need your help, this has become too difficult for me to handle on my own.

Free of guilt, free of fear, free of addictions, free of stress, free of the past, free to be the person that God designed you to be, strong and not weak, healed and not broken, successful and not struggling. Confident and not low self-esteem, Compassionate and not bitter and angry, Giving and not selfish or self-centered, Truthful and not dishonest, Connected and not disconnected, Restored and no longer wounded from your past. God feeds faith and the enemy feeds us fear. Remember that, God says he will give you the desires of your heart and that he “satisfies your desires with good things” (Psalm 103:5). God wants to bless us, but for reasons that are good for us. We must first, learn who we are and be honest enough with ourselves to achieve the things we are missing or have broken to receive healing in our lives to become “free”. You can reach your destination by taking little steps.

The best way to win a battle is to fight on the battlefield. You can't win a war unless you work as a team, if we stop to think that is what we are a team in God's army that is equipped with all the armor. We are never sent to a battle without equipment so when there is release of fear, guilt and shame there is peace, happiness and joy. They that wait upon the Lord, he will renew their strength, let all of us wait on God, we will never loose.
