The bees have it right! The next natural skin care remedy on my list of must haves is raw honey. Raw honey is honey that has come straight from the hive without heating or processing of any kind. Remaining in it’s purest form, this kind of honey has many superior health properties both internal and external. While it is a delicious and nutritious treat to eat, it is a fantastic natural skin care product as well.

The most impressive use I have found for raw honey is the healing of burns and blemishes on the skin. I was flat ironing a weave one day and accidentally touched the hair after a pass with a 400 degree iron. OUCH! I was so painful I knew I was going to have a blister. I remembered reading that raw honey was good for burns, so I immediately went and put some on my finger, covering it with a band-aid. Within minutes that pain subsided, and by the next morning there was no sign of a burn or a blister.

Last weekend while grilling, I touched the hot grill and once again knew that I had a pretty bad burn. I went for the honey, but this time it was several hours later and the pain was nagging. As before, by the next morning the burn was gone, I couldn’t ever remember exactly where it had been.

On another occasion, I had a painful pimple forming under my nose. It was so irritating and red and I hate getting those! So I thought if raw honey could heal my burns why not this inflammation. I put it on and rubbed it in till the shine and stickiness were gone. Once again the honey came through! The blemish was gone the next day!

Raw honey has many skin care uses, including but not limited to:

A natural humectant - honey attracts and retains moisture

Antibacterial - honey inhibits the growth of bacteria

Antioxidant - honey aids in tissue growth and repair
