Jennifer Lopez is a woman of many hats; recording artist, actress, model, fashion designer, wife, and mother to twins, Emme Maribel Muñiz and Maximilian "Max" David Muñiz, proving one really can have it all, at least if you’re Jennifer Lopez.
Ms. Lopez has come a long way from her days as a dancer on In Living Color, where she began her career. She made the transition into acting and had a string of box office successes with such films as; Money Train (1995), Out of Sight (1988), The Wedding Planner (2001), Monster-In-law (2005), and most recently, The Back-up Plan (2010).
Lopez shot to fame in 1999, with the release of her debut studio album, On the 6. Not long after, in 2000, she famously donned the Versace green dress to the Grammy Awards. The attention Lopez gained from her musical success, coupled with her eye-catching fashion choices, solidified her as a household name.
After a relationship with Sean Combs, a failed marriage to backup dancer Cris Judd, and very public engagement to Hollywood sensation, Ben Affleck (who could forget Bennifer); Jenny from the block finally seemed to get it right with recording artist Marc Anthony, who is her current husband and the biological father of her twins.
After the departure of Ellen DeGeneres from American Idol, Lopez filled the spot. Lopez not only boosted ratings, but also offers a warm, encouraging, and useful evaluation of the aspiring singers on the show. The show also offered a platform for Lopez to debut her new single, On the floor, which features Pitbull. The single went to #1 on the iTunes single download chart, the music video received over 13 million views on YouTube, and the single continues to climb the Billboard charts.
Could this nurturing and surprisingly likable/relatable demeanor be attributed to Lopez’s greatest role of all, motherhood? It certainly suits her well, very well in fact. Lopez and her twins can be seen starring in the Gucci children’s spring/summer collection 2011. This high-fashion trio certainly look amazing and it’s for a great cause! Lopez states, “I was particularly inspired when I first met [Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini] in 2008 at the fundraising event she hosted in New York to benefit UNICEF. When Frida told me about her trip to Malawi and her excitement about launching her new children’s collection, I was inspired by her idea to build upon Gucci’s long term support for UNICEF with a donation in honor of the launch of the collection. As a mother, I am proud to be a part of this campaign to benefit UNICEF’s Schools for Africa program.”
Whatever the culprit for Lopez’s fabulous exterior and relaxed spirit, one thing is for certain, Jenny is looking great! She has successfully revived her career and continues to set trends as a diverse and mulit-talented business and family woman.
