Now-a-days, creating an epic empire is the new black! No longer is having just one job good enough…you must spread your wings, become a brand and know a little bit about everything and a lot about a lot of things. Tyra Banks has taken this mantra to heart and is becoming superwoman right before our eyes.
Strutting the catwalk for legendary designers like Badgley Mischka, Chanel and Christian Dior, Tyra hit supermodel status relatively quickly. She made history as the first African-American model to grace the cover of GQ and Sports Illustrated, and made us realize being curvy was cute. But as we soon saw, being just a pretty face with a flawless physique wasn’t enough for Ms. Banks.
In 2003 the Victoria’s Secret siren created “Bankable Productions”. The company gave Tyra an outlet to showcase her talents if front of- and behind the screen. Just a short time later, “America’s Next Top Model” was born and is currently in its 16th cycle and still going strong. Next up, Tyra saw fit to launch “The Tyra Banks Show”. And while the talk show was incredibly successful, winning 2 Emmy’s, and had many proclaiming her to be the next Oprah, Banks ended her daytime run after only 5 years to take “Bankable Productions” to the next level. And to do so, Banks enrolled in Harvard Business School’s Owner/President Management Program (OPM).
Proving that it’s never too late to further your studies, the newly minted Harvard co-ed was quoted as saying, “In order for my company to grow and be the best, and to reach these women, and to serve them, I needed the best. So I went to the best.”
Tyra has truly proven herself as a multi-media mogul with “Bankable Productions” cementing book projects and lining up TV and movie deals, but Tyra’s latest endeavor may be her most exciting yet! The social media maven has launched TypeF.com (the “F” is for Fierce!). The online magazine is a place wear women can get all their beauty, fashion and hair needs serviced.
Is there anything Tyra Banks can’t do?! Probably not! And since there are no signs of her slowing down, it’s a safe bet that the best is yet to come!
