Looking at the news you see conflicting stories of how the economy is getting better but many of us fashionistas are not feeling it. It seems to be getting harder and harder to keep up with the latest fashion trends that we see in magazines, on television, and even the red carpet. Never fear, there is always a way to be fabulously trendy on a budget. For the fierce and fabulous the answer is as simple as looking in your closet, in your jewelry box, in the bottom drawer of your dresser, and even in your best girlfriend. There are a number of things to do when a drought such as this hits. Here are some ways to stay trendy during any season.
- Accessorize-Pull out all accessories that you own.

- Your valuable jewels, costume jewelry, scarves, belts, hats, handbags, sunglasses, etc. Accessories are meant to make an understated ensemble stand out. They draw the eye of the on-looker to notice your trendy style. It generally costs less to invest in accessories rather than going out to purchase a new blouse, skirt, dress, or jeans.
Shoes-Normally shoes are a girl’s next best friend.
Let’s be honest, most of us hardly get rid of our shoes because they are seen as an investment. Look at the colors that you have packed away. Look at the different designs you have selected over the years. Shoes are so great because they help to complete your look.
Change-Go outside of the box.
If you are used to wearing suits to work, try switching the blazer with a nice cardigan and putting a chic belt with it. Dress up your favorite tee with an over-the-top piece of neck wear. The point is switch up your normal pattern of dressing or pairing. You may find a new that “look” which has your name all over it.
Friends-Utilize your best girlfriend.

Normally you have gone out with her or seen something in her closet that caught your eye. If asked, most times our friends will allow us to borrow and even trade with them. My only word of advice is don’t abuse your friend. Do all of your trades at once and keep them to a minimum.
Layering-Layers are always appropriate.
Whether it is winter, spring, summer or fall, layering is a great idea. Find that old tank top, halter, even an over-sized scarf that you can wrap to make into a top and make your outfit come to life. With layering, unlikely combinations are possible.

Right now is the fashionistas time to shine. Make whatever is worn fabulous and trendy. Being a trendsetter is what it is all about. The latest in fashions are always wanted because that is what is seen everywhere we look. You will be amazed at how many looks you get for just going through what you had in your possession.
Why not beat others to the punch and bring your closet back first? Fashion always has a way of repeating itself.
