A Season of Deliverance
By Ava Simone Collier
Tara Moore is more than just a gospel recording artist, she’s a survivor. This native Floridian says she had just about given up on her vision to sing. Her life had been filled with two marriages that both involved domestic violence. Although she always loved singing, there wasn’t much to sing about at the time. “My first husband was physically abusive. I met my second husband-to-be while still married and trying to get away from my first. At first, this new man in my life seemed like a protector. I found out soon enough that he wasn’t. He also became my abuser,” admits Tara.
Tara has now found true love with her third husband, James Moore, affectionately known as “Mo.” “I’m now happily married to Mo for the past eight years. He is also my producer and engineer on my current CD, Destiny.” She stated that after attempting to revive her singing career earlier, she’d given up again. It was only after attending a funeral of a family member that she received confirmation about her gift. “I was attending a funeral of one of my husband’s family members. I met Evangelist Sharon Scott. She prophesied to me that God still wanted me to use my gift of song to help others everywhere to heal and be delivered.” Tara says it hadn’t been the first time that she’d been told this. However, it was this last time that she decided to be obedient and follow God’s purpose for her. “I grew up in the church and have been singing in the choir since I was 13. Others had prophesied to me about my singing, but now it’s time. It’s my season of deliverance. My music has made me believe that when God has something for you, no matter how late in life, it will come to pass. I do believe in God’s timing.”
Inspired by some of gospels most dynamic recording artists such as, Fred Hammonds, Helen Baylor, Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin and the entire Winans family, Tara shares that she’d one day like to be in their presence and even record music with them, if God so desires. “If traveling to record is in God’s plans for me, then I will do it. I am a gospel recording artist and if it is His plan for me to be in the presence of those other gospel artists, then I will go where He leads me.”
Her CD is entitled Destiny and she credits her loving husband, Mo, and her friend, Evangelist Scott, for helping to make this dream possible. “My husband is my manager and producer and I love working together with him. Evangelist Scott wrote the lyrics to the title track, Destiny. This CD is about deliverance and healing from domestic violence,” says Tara. “I truly thank God for this opportunity and now my desire is to please Him in everyway.”
